My professor and friend, David Valentine Holmes, taught me a great deal about assemblage as a form of art-making. I began using my collection of found objects to sculpt with; in addition, to painting and placing them in boxes. These sculptures tend to be more playful or whimsical than my other works. I realized that might due to the fact that the process of assemblage reminds me of my favorite childhood pastimes: playing in the sandbox, Legos, Tinker Toys, & Lincoln Logs. I love the challenge of problem-solving attachments and trying to generate a visually appealing work in-the-round.
