I am from Green Bay, Wisconsin. I received my Bachelors of Science degree from UW-Stevens Point majoring in Art Education with a minor in Art History. I completed my Masters of Science in Education-Fine Arts degree at UW-River Falls via Pigeon Lake Field Station.
I have resided in the Wausau area, Wisconsin and taught art at Wausau East High School for the past 28 years. I am also a working artist, exhibiting extensively on a local level and throughout the state. My works have been featured at the National Collage Society in Cleveland, Ohio, the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design, and UW-Marathon County galleries.
Teaching has encouraged my development of a diverse and rich skill set, as well as an appreciation for a variety of art-making forms, mediums, and artistic styles.
Art is a skill that you can grow through practice, effort, failure, instruction, desire, and time.
I painted the still life (left) for my Mom when I was a Junior in high school. It has been hanging in my parents house for the past 30 years! I’ve grown a lot as an artist since then and I decided it’s about time I redo this tired old still life. I painted a new version of this composition on top of the old one (right). Be proud of your current art abilities but continuously strive to improve. Growth mindset!
