Parent Letter

Dear Parents,

For the 2017-2018 school year, we are looking forward to teaching your child in the Lowell Physical Education classes. We will teach your child to the best of our ability. Our goal is to provide a safe and positive experience for your child, as well as teach a variety of skills and activities to help your child build a healthy lifestyle.

Throughout the school year, your child will have assessments and self-assessments in their cooperative and teamwork skills, locomotor movements, manipulative skills, and fitness levels. Students in Grades 3, 4 and 5 will be given the Fitnessgram test twice during the school year. Students in grades 3 and 4 will practice the different components of the Fitnessgram test. Whereas, the 5th grade students will perform the Fitnessgram Test. (see attached Fitnessgram section of our website) Note: The students will NOT be graded on their performance.

For your child’s safety, we ask that they wear sneakers to P.E. class . Sneakers have rubber soles and will stay on their feet during many activities without restriction. By participating in P.E., recess, and classroom activities with their sneakers, your child will be able to move safely.

If your child has any medical concerns, please inform the school nurse.

The students will participate in Physical Education class twice a week. In the Physical Education classes, every child is expected to participate to the best of their ability.

Again, we look forward to teaching your child. Thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Eileen Donahue and Tina Loguidice,

Lowell Physical Education Teachers
