Vykrutas Ukrainian Dance Society Presents: BRAVO! 2023

BRAVO! 2023 will take place on May 20, 2023 at 7 pm at University Theatre in Calgary. This year, Vykrutas will be joined by Suzirya Ukrainian Dance Theatre (Calgary), Cheremshyna Ukrainian Dance Ensemble (Edmonton), Chumak II (Edmonton), Studia Shumka (Edmonton), Barvinok Ukrainian Dance Society (Calgary), Yalenka Ukrainian Dancers (Calgary), Junior Tryzub (Calgary), Polanie Polish Song and Dance Association (Calgary) and Viva Dance Company (Edmonton). It promises to be an exciting evening of traditional Ukrainian dance, music, and culture. Our goal is to fundraise for humanitarian aid for those displaced by the war in Ukraine.

Year End Concert

Saturday, April 29 2023, Vykrutas Ukrainian Dance Society will present our 2022-2023 Year End Concert at the Shane Homes YMCA Theatre at Rocky Ridge.

Vykrutas Ukrainian Dance Society to honour 5 proud years of Ukrainian Dance in Calgary

Happy 30th Anniversary of Independence Ukraino!

Vykrutas would like to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Ukraine's Independence with all Ukrainians and those with Ukrainian heritage on August 24 2021!

April 2021

Suzirya's Let's Dance

In April 2021, Vykrutas entered three entries into the Suzirya's Let's Dance Virtual Showcase. The dances entered are new choreography that our Seniors and Ensemble learned this year. The dancers were physically distanced and everyone followed the AHS restrictions at the time of filming.

Vykrutas won $ 1000 in scholarships in the virtual showcase and would like to thank organizers for the wonderful opportunity to present our work!

December 2020

In December 2020, Vykrutas Ensemble released a Christmas Collage Dance as a Christmas greeting.

Vykrutas entered a virtual dance festival in Ukraine called Tanets.NET.

We were among 80 participating groups that showcased their dances in the festival. Both our Ensemble and our Artistic Director were given awards by the festival Jury.

August 2020

Vykrutas School of Ukrainian Dance entered the 12th International Festival of song and dance "Let's Unite Children with Art"

"Let's Unite Children with Art" is an international festival based in Ukraine. The 2020 edition of the festival was virtual and Vykrutas was able to enter 4 dances into various age categories. We were awarded the following:

1st place finish in the Folk Stage Dance category in our age groups.

Congratulations to our Ensemble and Senior group for achieving this honour among many Ukrainian and international groups!
