Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I know you have explained the union benefits so many times, but I honestly have no idea what they are or to what I am entitled.
A: That’s why we have this website! Please check out the different links for the different insurances we offer. Please do not hesitate to contact your trustee with any questions you may have.
Q: I thought my employer was Valhalla UFSD??
A: No, your employer of the union benefits is Valhalla Teachers’ Association (VTA) Benefit Fund.
Q: Is there a buyout?
A: No, because you do not pay for your benefits.

Q: I have had a major life change(s) (address, marriage, divorce, children, name, etc). What do I do?
A: Email the Benefit Fund Administrator and you will be sent the appropriate paper work. In your email, please indicate which life change(s) you have had and to what building you would like the paperwork sent.
Q. I have a child in college. What do I do?
A: Two months prior to your child's 19th birthday, you must notify a trustee. Two months prior to the start of every subsequent semester, you must notify a trustee. Failure to complete the updates will result in your child being dropped from the plan.
Q. My child will have a lapse in their full time student status. Can they be added back on to the plan?
A: YES! It is your responsibility to email a trustee, two months before your child will no longer be a full-time student (reduced course load, not continuing, graduated, etc). Failure to do so could result in your child's benefits being suspended. If your child decides to enroll in a future full time semester before the age of 23, notify a trustee two months prior to the start of the semester.
Q: Isn’t my child covered until age 26 under Obama Care?
A: No. Your child’s medical insurance follows Obama Care. The union benefits are separate and determined by the Board of Trustees. Your child is covered until 19 or 23, if a full time student.
