1. "What is Braille" - it is a research paper done for the course Linguistic Theory. I did it on Braille because I wanted to learn more about it and also, how it helped the blind and visual impaired community. This research took a lot of time to do, but it was worth it because I learned so much about the topic and different things that I never knew about like what is a smart brailler. I am pleased with how this research paper turned out. If I could do it again, I would have added information about blindness and visual impairment.
2. "Lactancia, Autismo y Neurociencia" -it is a short research paper done for the course Human Growth and Development I. This research focuses on breastfeeding, autism, and neuroscience. Human growth and development I was one of my favorite courses because I like learning about how we develop physically, emotionally and socially. Also, the different theories out there that focus on how do we learn and adapt. This written report took some time to do but doing it helped me acquire more knowledge on these three topics. What I needed to change about the report is to make it according to the APA format.
3. "Mind"- It is a written assignment for Linguistic theory. It's about the brain and how each hemisphere has its own function. This was a short written assignment but the topic was interesting. Before doing this assignment I did not know what was a split-brain. But thanks to this assignment, now I know.
I like doing written assignments and research papers; even though it requires a lot of time and patience, one always learns something when doing these types of work.
4. "School Shootings" research paper- This is a research paper done for the course Advanced Composition. I wanted to research this topic because it is one of the most recurring tragedies happening in our schools in the past 20 years. Doing this research; reading about the most memorable and heartbreaking tragedies and learning about the shooters and the victims, has really made an impact on me. I learned so much and made me think about gun laws and gun control.
5. "The Sad Farewell" Essay Sylvia Plath_HCP - This essay was an assignment for the course of Literature 2. This essay was in the poem "Daddy" by Sylvia Plath. I decided to write about how the poet describes her relationship with her father and compares him to a "god" and to a "Nazi soldier". For this essay, the class saw the movie "Sylvia" that is based on the poets' life; then we were encouraged to research the poems and write our own analysis. I enjoyed writing this essay because I got to research more about the author and was able to put my writing and thinking skills to work.
6. "Antonio S. Pedreira" research paper (Spanish)- This research paper was a requirement for the course EDFU 3009. This research is about the Puerto Rican philosopher and educator Antonio S. Pedreira. It contains his biography, his implications on philosophy and education. I had to look for different resources to complete this research. I enjoyed reading and learning about this influential philosopher; one of his most outstanding personal traits is that he is a patriot. Pedreira loved and defended Puerto Rico through writing articles and essays.
7. Examen 1 Huma 3112 (Spanish)- This document is a compilation of 3 essays about how work affects us in our lifetime, for the course Occidental Culture 3 and 4. Each essay is required to read an essay found in the class book and to answer some guide questions provided by the professor. I enjoyed writing these essays because it helps me work on my analyzing and writing skills to convince the reader to understand and/or agree to my point of view.
8. Field Experience Report 2019- This field experience report was a requirement for the "Seminar and Curriculum at the Elementary Level" course. For this field experience, I did 18 hours of observation and gave 2 classes to two Fifth grade groups at a school. In the document, you will read about what I had observed from the classes and small research on the school. This was an enriching experience that I hope to never forget. I will put in practice everything I learned during the observations.
9. Homework #1 Children's Literature and Reflection- This assignment was for the course Children's literature. It contains multiple questions that required research on the topic of Children's literature and its awards such as the Newbery Award and the Caldecott award. It also includes an award and a book cover created by me (The Best Poetic Story Award and "Keep Dreaming Big"). This assignment was a great way for us to have a broader idea of what is children's literature and the diversity that it contains. I enjoyed creating the award and the book cover; this would be a great activity to use in an Elementary English class. See below for a full reflection of the homework.
