1. The Seven Seas Maze
This maze was created using PowerPoint. This helps the students to practice to move the computer mouse. I loved how it turned out. I've heard from fellow classmates that they enjoyed the maze! They enjoyed the theme of the game. I could have added sounds, which would have made it a little bit better and more entertaining.
2. "Help me find my home" Computer game
This is a power point game. It helps students practice Homophones. This is my favorite class project because it required a lot of creativity. I made it as a story; I believe that elementary students would enjoy this game because it's about helping a dog find his way home. This game would have been a lot better if it had sound effects.
3. Electronic grade book
The electronic grade book was an interesting project. It is a tool that all student-teacher candidates need to dominate before becoming teachers. I enjoyed creating this grade book, although it required so much time, work and math! I am happy how it turned out. This helped me realize how much work it goes into adding grades; especially when it comes to attendance. I need to memorize and practice the formulas that make the adding process much easier.
4. School Fundraising Activity
Many documents were created by my presentation group and myself. We had to create a fundraising activity to help out our imaginary school with their economical situation. We had to create donation and permission papers, a flyer, a budget spreadsheet, and more! It was quite interesting working with a group completely online. Through emails and a webcam meeting, we were able to complete this task.
5. Class Dojo Tutorial
This video is a tutorial on how to use Class Dojo. I had never thought that creating a video with voice recording would be such a challenge. I had to make sure that I explained well and to avoid any distracting noise that will interrupt the recording. Even though the video did not come out as how I imagine, I am happy with the way it turned out.
6. Quiz on Story elements
I created this quiz for the Course Evaluation and Assessment at the Elementary Level. I chose to make it about the Story Elements within the Fairytale: "The Princess and the Pea" by Hans Christian Andersen. With the knowledge acquired from the course, it made a test/quiz making much easier and efficient.
7. Tabulation of Specification
This is a tabulation of the specification that was a requirement for the course Evaluation and Assessment at the Elementary Level. This was the first time I had to create one; I would like to have more practice on this because this is essential part of teaching.
8. Presentation on Antonio S. Pedreira
This presentation was a requirement from the course EDFU 3009. It is based on research I made on the Puerto Rican philosopher and educator Antonio S. Pedreira. It covers his biography and philosophical and educational implications. For me, this was one of the most unforgettable presentations I've ever made! For creativity, I dressed up as Pedreira and pretended to be him during the presentation. At one point in the presentation, I took out the Puerto Rican flag and recited a piece of one of his essays with the song "Preciosa" by Marc Anthony as the background music. At the end of the presentation, I received positive feedback from classmates and the professor. Also, I got a perfect score on my work. (This presentation is in Spanish)
9. Presentation on the Movie "Take the Lead"
This presentation is a requirement for the course EDPE 3008. The purpose of this presentation was to research the storyline of the movie, the teacher, the students, how evaluation and assignments were being given in the movie and more. I chose this movie because it was different due that the subject was about dance. Although this movie is not based on an academicals subjects, such as Science or English, it is part of Performing Arts in which many students are outstanding at. It still has to due to giving a lesson and motivating students to give it their all.
10. Standard #5 "Diversity and Special Needs"
This presentation is a translation and summary of one of the standards of the "Perfil del maestro". It covers the basic knowledge, values, and execution that a teacher must know and do to fulfill this standard. Also, I included an exemplary teacher, Ms. Erin Gruwell and explained her story using it as an example of what a teacher should do regarding diversity. In the end, I included a video titled "Educating Peter"; it is about a young boy who has down syndrome and his journey of going to an ordinary public Elementary School, covering the idea of what is Special Education.
11. Realistic Fiction Presentation
For the Children's literature course, we were able to choose a literary genre. A classmate and I chose Realistic Fiction. We investigated different aspects of the genre such as themes, characteristics and some examples of realistic fiction books for the elementary level. I enjoyed learning about this genre because it has been one of my favorites for many years. See the full reflection below.
