Once you are on campus, obtain a University ID card. Information about its benefits and obtaining one can be found here.
One major benefit is that your UCard can be used as a "key" to access:
Humphrey School areas and rooms -- computer labs, 230 office area, Jernberg Lounge, student study area
Main office area 130 (which is locked before and after M-F, 8:00am-4:30pm)
Humphrey building itself outside of regular building hours:
M-F: 7:00am-10:00pm
Sat: 8:00am-5:00pm
Sun: locked all day
To have your UCard activated for building and room access:
During business hours, take your UCard to the front desk in room 130 with your UCard. Student workers will enter a specific chain of digits from your card into a system. You will be able to use your key for access within 24 hours. After it has been activated, simply hold your card in front of the key pad, and you will hear the door unlock.
NOTE: You must make an additional specific request to be granted access to room 55 (PhD student lounge, meeting room, and some work cubicles)
Questions, concerns, or difficulties about building access should be directed to Sherri Holmen,
Humphrey School Director of Facilities and Events, holme021@umn.edu.
