The following two artifacts were taken from educational research and methodology courses that identify a platform for me to explore avenues of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE's) and trauma. The first artifact identifies important research questions to consider as I work on the specificity of my dissertation research. The second artifact identifies hypotheses and variables that I may want to consider in this research on ACE's and trauma.
The purpose of this longitudinal qualitative research proposal is to determine the depth of knowledge schools have regarding the traumatic stress of students and how it translates in academic, social, and emotional problems . The proposed study aims to identify what resources and interventions are being used by schools/districts to identify and address student traumatic stress and interventions at the elementary, middle and high school level. The research question for the study include:
(1) What common types of trauma do students experience?
(2) What effect does trauma have on academics, behavior, attendance and retention?
(3) To what extent are educators trained in trauma?
(4) What interventions are being implemented in schools to help teachers and administrators with educating and supporting students with trauma?
(5) How effective are those interventions on student academics, behavior, attendance and retention?

H11: Gender/sex is not independent from educational attainment.
H02: Race is independent from educational attainment.
H12: Race is not independent from educational attainment.
H03: There is no relationship between a person’s connection to the head of household and educational attainment.
H13: There is a relationship between a person’s connection to the head of household and educational attainment.
