Interests: Changes in DNA methylation and gene expression that may be predictive of pregnancy complications in a longitudinal cohort of African American women.
Current Projects: I study changes in DNA methylation and gene expression that may be predictive of pregnancy complications in a longitudinal cohort of African American women. These women have also provided oral, vaginal, and gut microbiome samples, and one of the goals of my research is to develop a method to integrate these distinct datasets to better identify risk factors and predictors of pregnancy complications. I also have developed a predictor of gestational age at birth from cord blood methylation and am using this predictor to evaluate developmental maturity in preterm neonates and NICU outcomes and interventions.
