Research interests: Neurodevelopment, neurotoxicology, Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
Current Projects: My current research examines how combined exposure to pesticides and stress during neurodevelopment could lead to changes in the dopamine system and development of ADHD. We know that ADHD affects lowincome children to a
greater extent, and that studies of lowincome populations show increased exposure to pesticides and stress. I use a mouse model to model exposure to pesticides and stress during the developmental period, and test the behavioral, molecular, and epigenetic changes that occur within the dopamine system. I also examine the CDC's National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) dataset to determine whether a stress index modifies the association between pesticide metabolites and ADHD diagnosis in children of the US.
