College of Engineering Makerspace (RRB)
Our Makerspace is a place of collaboration and fabrication, open and available to COE students to share tools and knowledge with peers in the pursuit of design and creation beyond available curricula.
The three key elements include:
Fab Lab with a digital design studio, 3D fabrication, laser and vinyl cutting, textiles and electronics assembly
Collaboratory with group work areas, project space, common areas and IT support
Student Shop with traditional metal, wood, composite, and other material working, welding & finishing
Makerspace is managed by trained student supervisors, overseen and qualified by professional COE Staff. Extended hours are the norm with flexible scheduling during Student Org competition and deadline periods. Work and project spaces along with common toolkits are available for short-term and group project assignment.
Completion of specialized training classes are required to use many identified tools and only permitted with qualified supervision. Some of the tools may not require specific training but are still potentially hazardous or annoying to others, therefore use and safety requirements extend to accommodate all Makerspace activities.
