Computing Design Research and Learning Center (CDRLC)
Construction has been completed of a new $129M+ home for the College of Engineering's Computer Science Department! COE engaged the outstanding design team of LMN Architects of Seattle, partnered with Chicago firm Booth Hansen for complete Architectural/Engineering services throughout the project. Construction Management firm Mortenson along with General Contractor W.E. O'Neil were contracted for the build-out. The State of Illinois' Capital Development Board led the project and provided $108M in funding towards the total project cost.
CDRLC was originally conceived and programmed with a Feasibility Study conducted in 2015 by LVD Architecture. The Groundbreaking was held July 2021 with the Ribbon Cutting on July 16, 2025, in time for the Fall 2025 Semester.
