Post date: Nov 12, 2012 3:36:27 AM

We will be attending a school assembly at 11:10 am on Monday November 12th. We will have a few students sharing their thoughts they wrote about Remembrance Day.

In class, we will read a book called A Bear in War, by Stephanie Innes and Harry Endrulat. It is about a young 10 year old, Canadian girl, that sent her teddy bear to her father in 1916, at the height of the First World War. It traveled to France in a care package for her father Lieutenant Laurence Browning Rogers. When the Teddy returned from the front lines, more that a year later, he did so alone:Lieutenant Rodgers, along with many other Canadian soldiers, died at the battle of Passchendaele.

Today the Teddy resides in a glass display case at the Canadian War Museum- one of the most beloved exhibits in the building. Here is a picture of the teddy. bear.
