Keeeb
Check out the Keeeb site I developed to show you my cool tool: http://keeeb.com/jann1/elearning_cool_tool/
My review is about Keeeb which is a web curation tool that is very similar to other options; however, it is incredibly easy to use and does things in a slightly different way.
What I like about it:
The GUI is incredibly simple and easy to use. You can learn it in just a few minutes.
You create little windows/boxes called Keebies that you can title and write notes in. Within these Keebies you can add any web content.
By using the little servlet I downloaded in my browser I can copy ANYTHING on the web: pictures, text, embed videos. It provides a link to the original text, so it is clear that it isn’t “my” work. In the site I created for this example, I tried to use just about every example.
You can also invite people to edit and work in this environment, just by sending them an email. It has a great number of uses for group work.
You can also use your own images by dragging them into a new “Keeebie” that you create.
And finally, as with most things on the web, you can share it out to the most common social networks like Twitter, Facebook, and Google+.
What I don’t like about it:
It is a little buggy and sometimes confusing when you first start grouping your Keebies together. However, I forgive it for that because I like the functionality.
I wonder about the security of a tool like this one that lives in my browser; however it is somewhat similar process to Diigo.
What I would ask the developers:
Add more functionality for the Keebies like making them different colors and allowing more options for text editing. I would also like to see better options and control with the layout of my Keebies. I would like to have been able to stretch and drag them around the page to suit the emphasis of my content.
Check it out and let me know what you think! Happy Thanksgiving!
