Baharak

Baharak is a 5th year PhD student at department of Bioengineering, University of California Riverside (UCR). Baharak has received her M.S. degree in Biomedical Engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology (AUT, Tehran, Iran) and B.S. degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST, Tehran, Iran). Her research is based on developing near infrared exogenous nanoprobes for diagnostic and treatment of cancer. Currently, she is developing polymeric nanoparticles loaded with Indocyanine green (ICG) for detection of ovarian cancer.

Baharak is member of Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES), International Society for Optics and Photonics (SPIE). She has initiated the SPIE student chapter at UCR in 2012 and currently is serving as the president of this chapter. She is reviewer of the Journal of Biomedical Optics (JBO) since 2011. Baharak has received several awards from ASLMS including travel grants for three consecutive years, best student paper award and student research grant. She has recently received a scholarship in optics and photonics from SPIE.
