ASQ – UCM Student Chapter is organized by graduate students in the School of Industrial Sciences and Technology, College of Health, Science, and Technology at University of Central Missouri (UCM). American Society for Quality (ASQ), Kansas City Section is a main sponsor and supporter, together with UCM Student Activity and Graduate School. The Chapter was established in 2009 under Region 13 and registered with the ASQ headquarter in Wisconsin.
For the past fourteen (14) years, students have worked as a team to organize and hold the annual Quality Management Conference at UCM, attend and present research posters at the ASQ World Conference, lead a global book donation project, and other activities. In addition, Chapter members also mentored Warrensburg High School First Robotics Team for 2013 competition in Kansas City. With continuous working, the ASQ-UCM Student Organization received the outstanding award from Region 13 in 2016, 2017, and 2018 consecutively. The Chapter was also named the Best Student Branch in the West North Central Region in 2019. Mr. Lawrence Mossman, Region 13 director awarded Student Chapter on September 19, 2019 at UCM Main campus in Warrensburg.
The ASQ-UCM Student organization represents a group of new generation quality students actively involved in promoting leadership abilities and techniques of quality related issues in the industrial and academic world. Lean, 5S, Six Sigma, and other quality tools have been implemented in students’ projects. Student members are graduate students in the Industrial Management (MSIM) and Technology (MST) programs.
