You've finished your map!! Well done. Now it's time to submit your material for evaluation. The instructions below will guide through the information submission process for this contest. Because each school is limited to a maximum of five (5) projects submitted to the state judging panel, only one submission document should be sent per school. This document will contain the information for all entries from that school. Students should not send individual project information to the State organizers; that information should only come from a teacher or advisor using the School-to-State form. Submissions transmitted to the state in any format other than the appropriate form will not be eligible for the competition.
(****NOTE: Please download the spreadsheets and edit locally; do not attempt to edit the online document.)
Step 1: Student to School
Students are encouraged, but not required, to submit their entries to their respective schools using this spreadsheet: Student Submission to School. This sheet requires some basic information about the student project, including student name(s) (real or generic), entry level (High School or Middle School), and shortened links to both the map project and the details page (see note below). Students can work in groups of up to two and may not be part of more than one submission.
When submitting materials, students should be aware of Potentially Identifiable Information (PII) included in the submission. Students and student groups are welcome to submit entries with generic names, however, if real names are utilized, Esri requires that all students submit a Permission and Release form (PDF/DOCX). These forms should be retained by the school and will be required by Esri for the top High School and Middle School entries.
Step 2: School to State
Schools should internally evaluate each of the submissions, being mindful of the Evaluation guidelines for the state and national competition. The designated school contest coordinator should compile the five best entries in the School Submission to State spreadsheet. Some of this information can be pulled from student submissions above, if recorded. Other elements will be the same for each of the five submissions from the school.
Your finished document(s) should be emailed to the Arkansas Geographic Alliance at ARGeoAlliance@gmail.com.
Additional Note: In addition to the link to your Story Map, be sure to provide the URL for the Detail page of your ArcGIS Online Story Map. This Detail page will provide the information necessary for evaluation by the judges. See the image below as a basic example of a Detail Page. In addition, please be sure to set the share settings to "Everyone (public)" for the map and all included layers; items that are incorrectly shared will not be evaluated.
