Our Candidates:

President:

Taydem LaRocque: Hello! My name is Taydem LaRocque. I will be entering my fifth and final year of an Anthropology and Religious Studies double major. This year I will be running for the position of President; hoping to continue my previous work in expanding student anthropological connections into the local community to offer Jobs, volunteer opportunities and experience in anthropology! This year I have developed close connections with the Archaeological Society of Alberta.

In my spare time you can find me working on my Alberta public archaeology book, something I hope to have completed this year or out studying in one of the local cafes on Whyte ave.

My area of research focus is public archaeology but I do have experience in various other areas and would love to reach out and see what other student anthropologists are doing with their studies!

VP Internal and Treasurer:

Séamus Rudden: Hi everyone! My name is Séamus, and I am in my fifth year of an  Honours programme majoring in Anthropology and minoring in Sociology. Most of my classes fall under biological anthropology and archaeology, but I aspire to be a wholistic {it's a spelling variation - trust me?} anthropologist by including all four fields in my work! My current academic interests include: Ireland, forensic anthropology (especially body farms), law, policy, and ethics. I am running for the position of Vice President Internal (my current position) and Vice President Social. I look forward to serving you for another year!

VP Academic:

Alyssa Sykes: Alyssa is a second-year honours anthropology student who plans to pursue a master's in forensic anthropology and a Ph.D. in cultural anthropology. Outside of school, she is the Executive Director and founder of SeaGlass Literary and an aspiring writer.

VP Social:

Clarice Domingo: Hi everyone, my name is Clarice and I would love the opportunity to be the next UAAU Vice President Social! I started university as an English major but after I took my first cultural anthropology course in the summer of my first year I was immediately drawn to the subject and desired to learn more, leading me to double major in both English and Anthropology. To hold the position of VP Social for the UAAU would be an honour for me because not only do I have experience in social media marketing, I would also have the opportunity to bring together the community of undergrad anthropology students and to possibly reach out to other students about the beauty and breadth of the subject, hopefully influencing others like myself to learn more about it and to grow the association!
