Audacity - audio recording and editing (free to download; works on Mac, Windows, and Linux)
ELAN - linguistic annotation (free to download; works on Mac, Windows, and Linux)
Google Sites (demo Nakoda page with sound files).
LibreOffice - office software (free alternatives to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc; works on Mac, Windows, and Linux)
Praat - phonetic analysis (free to download; works on Mac, Windows, and Linux)
Quizlet - online flash cards for learning (linguistics, language vocabulary, etc) with exercises and progress tracking
Zamzar - online file conversion tool (For example, when you have a recording from your phone that Audacity can't read, use this to convert it to WAV.)

Online keyboard (to copy and paste into your projects):
Syllabics: http://www.syllabics.net/ (pick the language you want - it can convert letters to syllabics - eg, "hay hay" to "ᐦᐊᐩ ᐦᐊᐩ") - good for Cree (Plains, Swampy, Woodland, etc), Inuktitut, and others
