MEDICATIONS

Dear Parents:

If your son/daughter requires prescription medication to be given at school, you must obtain an MD Order from your physician.  Please remember to personally deliver your child’s medication to the health office or make arrangements for dropping it off with me.   The medication should come in its original prescription bottle.

As the Health Office tends to be busy, it is recommended that you mark your calendar to keep track of when refills on medication are due, as a phone call or letter remains a courtesy to parents.  Students remain responsible for coming in at the appropriate times for their medication, but at times he/she may lose track of time.  If able,  I will try to reach the student.  If this becomes more of a pattern/problem, I will notify you and we can work together in plans to assist your son/daughter in remembering the medication schedule.

Please also remember that all medications must remain in properly labeled pharmacy bottle, as well as any over the counter (OTC) containers.  If you need an extra container, please ask your pharmacist to give you a second identically labeled container for use at school.

If your child has a change in his/her prescription medicine at school, a new MD order will be required to document the change.  Any personal over-the-counter medications that you wish your child to receive during the school year, must accompany a written note of permission and instructions.  Please note that as the nurse, I will use clinical discretion concerning the administration of over-the-counter medications.

If you have any questions or concerns, please call the Health Office at 802-875-4154

I will be available for medication drop off through school hours from 7:30am-3:00pm.

If you need to make special arrangements to drop off medication, please call.
