Are YOU Spitting In God’s Face?
Many people, because of the way they live there lives are spitting in the face of God. Now of course they are not really spitting in God’s face because God is so Holy that if they ever could get close enough to spit in his face they would surely die. (Exodus 33:20-23)
But many, because of their disregard, disrespect and irreverence of God do in fact despise him so much (even if they are not consciously aware of it) that it is as if they are spitting on God’s Face.
There are two types of people spitting in God’s face with whom this writing is concerned. The first type of people say “no not me! I am a good person even if I’m not a follower of Jesus Christ.” The second type say “Even though I am not yielded to God by obeying his word, I am a Christian simply because I believe in my heart.” These two types of people must realize their guilt as David did when Nathan spoke unto him the words “thou art the man.” (2 Samuel 12:7)
Now this needs to be put in perspective. Think of the worst thing you could possibly do. Would you think of killing innocent children? Desecrating dead bodies? Robbing a poor old woman? Kicking a blind man who fell to the ground? These are HORRIBLE things. But there is something more horrible than these. More Horrible? Yes! What Could Be More HORRIBLE?
Everyday there are men and women who live their life as if they cannot know God. They live their life in complete and utter disregard of God’s revealed will. Sometimes these are even those who claim to know God, and yet they disregard his Holy Word. They pick and choose what they want to believe. They are a god unto themselves, they are idolaters, and all idolaters, and liars are on a one-way trip to meet with worms and unquenchable flames. What words can allow them to understand this message? Seeing that they have not ears to hear or eyes to see?
God alone can open eyes and God alone can cause them to hear his words. I pray God opens ears and restores sight for “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” - Hebrews 10:31
AND THEY SHALL FALL INTO HIS HANDS UNLESS THEY REPENT AND SEEK HIM.
Now God does not need defense. God does not need anyone to stand up for him as those gods of stone do. This is not written to defend God, it is written as a desperate plea to save men from the wrath of God which shall come upon them unless they repent.
“He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.” - John 3:36
For by HIS WORD they shall receive LIFE.
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. - Matthew 7:21
And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? - Luke 6:46
So now here we come back to these two types of people. The first type who believes they are saved by their works. And the second type who believes they are saved by their faith. Make no mistake; men are saved by faith, and judged by their works, but faith cannot exist without good works, nor can men please God without faith. (Hebrews 11:6, James 2:20, 26, Matthew 7:21, John 14:21) You shall know them by their fruit (Luke 3:9). Consider Hebrews chapter 11 - how Abel offered a better sacrifice, how Noah built the ark, how Abraham went where God wanted him to go though he knew not where he was going. The list of the faithful demonstrating and living their faith could go on and on. But make no mistake - there are none faithful who do not live faithfully. A man who thinks he need not do anything but “accept” Christ and then go on living as he pleases fails to understand who Christ is and what he taught. We either actively serve Jehovah God by serving Christ Jesus - or we serve the devil. Many serve the devil by placing themselves above God and/or creating a fictitious god in their minds since they do not want to accept God on His terms.
“Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.” - Luke 6:47-49
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” - Romans 3:23
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” - Romans 6:23
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” -Romans 10:9-10
“Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” - John 3:3
“Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.” - 1 Peter 1:23
“But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” - Matthew 4:4
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” - John 14:6
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.” - John 3:16-21
