Crime

Overview

This tutorial will show you how to visualize crime data with help of the COALA Unreal plugin.

No backend configuration is needed for this.

(Note: The images below are rendered on the "Tower of London" in London, United Kingdom.)

Possible Editor setup's

The area we are using for this tutorial looks like this.

No crime data are requested and rendered because of the unchecked "render crime" checkbox.

For simply showing the places any crime happens, use the setting for this image.

If you want to have all crime's in the areas rendered and organized in a "heatmap" style enable the "render crime" checkbox along with "Force Render All Crimes".

The area we are using has so many crimes going on, that the heatmap is covered in red which is representing a high occurrence.

This rendered heatmap uses the "Heat Map Type" flat to be able to see the exact points where crimes are taking place.

By setting the "crime render config" to one specific type, the visualization is better to read.

As you can see on the right only "THEFT" like crimes are considered for rendering.

This image shows off the heatmap style way better: In denser places there are red data representations that are going smooth over yellow to green for lesser density.

By using "BURGLARY BREAKING AND ENTERING" for crimes to display, the density is better to read.

Here are the same settings as above.

The only difference is the "Heat Map Type" is set to "Pillar"
