General Information
Our school is located in the heart of the beautiful village of Gleneely. We currently have 116 pupils enrolled.
Our School Motto is “Mol an Óige agus Tiocfaidh sí” — praise the young and they will flourish. This motto is central to everything we do.
The Principal and staff of Scoil Mhuire are committed to creating a safe, welcoming and happy environment where every child feels valued and supported to reach their full potential.
We promote a culture of respect throughout our school community — respect for self, for others, for staff, for our environment, and for our wider community. In return, pupils are treated with care, fairness and understanding by all staff.
Present building in operation since 1961. Previous building situated on corner on Moville/Carndonagh road. Gleneely school was amalgamated with Ballyharry school in the 1960’s. It was a 3 teacher school until 1982. An extra classroom was added in 1983 when a fourth class teacher was appointed. In the spring of 2006 extensive renovations were carried out on the building through a devolved grant of €345,000. The Minister for Education made a personal visit to the school to announce the package. An extension consisting of classroom, gym, staff room, staff toilet and storage area was added on. Another classroom and storage area was added in 2015. The school has 119 pupils on the roll and has 8 teachers including the Principal.
