This unit focuses on the investigation of managed environments such as garden beds and is designed so students can undertake a range of practical activities in an agricultural plot and in the kitchen. Students will learn about the processes involved in food production when developing garden beds for growing herbs and/or vegetables. They investigate the innovative and sustainable supply of agriculturally produced raw materials and learn about the characteristics and properties of food. Students are provided with the opportunities to develop knowledge and understanding about food selection, storage and making informed choices when preparing nutritious food.
