Swimming - Term 1 2019 FOR YEARS 2-8

26 February - 21 March (Week 4 - 7)

Cost: $52 per learner

Swimming starts 26th February for the Year 4 - 8 learners and 12th March for the Year 2 and 3 learners. All learners in Years 2-8 will be swimming on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, participating in 6 lessons in total over a two week period. Buses will transport the children to/from CLM pools on Morrin Rd. Learners are assessed during their first lesson and grouped according to their swimming ability to ensure there is the right level of challenge.

There will be a swim meet for Year 5 - 8 on Friday 8th March 9.30 - 2.30pm at CLM in preparation for the Eastern Zones Swimming meet. More information will be available closer to the time.

Fundamental aquatic skills are part of NZ's Health and Physical Education Curriculum and, unfortunately, come with significant cost. Stonefields School have committed to subsiding the cost for each learner, however there is still an increase in cost from last year.

We understand that payment cannot be enforced, however, please appreciate that this valuable learning experience is dependent on your contributions. We appreciate that the start of the School year comes with additional costs. Permission:

Hub teachers will assume permission is given for your child to travel by bus and complete the series of swimming lessons unless we hear specifically from you. Swimming is part of the curriculum so all learners are encouraged to participate.

Last year the children got changed at school to help alleviate congestion problems at the pools. If you would like your child to have a shower at CLM, due to sensitivity to chlorine, please talk this through with your Hub teacher - thank you.

Please note that there will be an opportunity for you to come and watch your child swim at the swim meet on March 8th.

What to bring:

Your child/children will need to bring to school with them their swimming bag containing swimsuit, towel, swimming goggles. Learners with long hair are advised to wear a swimming cap also.
