Directions: The best way to earn the most credit in class is to complete your daily homework assignments on time and with your best effort. If you are interested in earning some extra points each quarter here is your opportunity. Complete these tasks for an opportunity to earn extra credit each quarter. I will not ask you turn in any extra credit. You will be responsible for bringing it to me when complete. No other extra credit will be offered on an individual basis.
Here is a list of the quarters and the units covered in class during each quarter. You can receive extra credit for completing a task as it relates to the units of study for your grade level this year.
You MAY earn e.c. on a topic from your grade level any quarter all year!

1. Quiz/Test Corrections with Explanation - 10 pts. for each item corrected and explained (max 100 pts.)
(The extra credit for this will be NOT be added to change the original quiz/test grade itself. It will be added as extra credit your overall social studies grade. )
For each quiz/test question missed, copy down the test question and your original answer. Then identify what the correct answer should be. In 2-3 sentences explain why your original answer was wrong and how you know your new answer is right. Support your new answer with a text reference to the textbook or assignments where your found the new answer.
2. AR Quiz – 10 pts. for each quiz question right (max 100 pts.)
(Please check with your AR teacher more specific requirements from them about what books and book levels you can or cannot take a quiz on.)
· Read a nonfiction AR book about a topic from our current unit of study. Take the AR quiz and bring a copy of it to Mrs. Hilton.
· Read a historical fiction AR book that is set during the time period of our current unit of study and the plot is centered around the unit as well. Take the AR quiz and bring a copy of it to Mrs. Hilton. (Keep in mind just because a book is set in the past, doesn’t make it historical fiction.)
3. Module Assessment in Textbook – 10 pts. for each question right (max 100 pts.)
(This is only an option if this wasn’t already assigned as a class assignment.)
· Complete the Module Assessment found at the end of each module in the textbook. Only do questions numbered 1-10.
4. Historical Movie Review– 100 pts for 5 min. oral presentation
Watch an historical fiction movie or historical documentary that is about a major historical time period we study in class this year. Then provide a critique of what you watched to the entire class and be prepared to answer questions from Mrs. Hilton and/or your classmates about the movie. See Mrs. Hilton for specific things to include in your presentation.
5. Student Suggestion/Idea - max. 100 pts.
Students may propose an extra credit idea to Mrs. Hilton at any time. Ideas must be explained and outlined in writing and given to Mrs. Hilton for consideration. Ideas must be discussed with and approved by Mrs. Hilton prior to a completion date accepted by Mrs. Hilton and the student. An idea contract will be made between Mrs. Hilton and the student prior to completion. This extra credit proposal must be initiated and requested by a student only!
