Math is a technical subject that requires focus, discipline and perseverance.
To help you be successful, I have established rules, processes and expectations for you to follow.
RULES
1. Be prompt – class starts when the tardy bell rings. My expectations is that you will be in your seat with a pencil and paper, ready to start the opening exercise.
2. Be prepared – come to class with your textbook, pencils, paper, binder and other materials to have a successful learning experience.
3. Be productive – my expectation is that you will practice the problems in class. Problems that you work on in class will be graded.
4. Be polite – allow me to teach. Stay in your seat and keep comments to yourself and do not engage in side conversations while I am teaching.
5. Be positive – my belief is that everyone can be successful in math. Some students may have to practice more than others to achieve the results they desire.
Expectations
· This class requires you to do most of the assignments in class.
· You will bring your textbook and composition book to class everyday.
· I will present a new concept with the assignment that you will be required to complete.
· The following day you will be expected to answer approximately 5 problems for a grade on that concept.
· Vocabulary is very important. I will quiz you throughout the year on vocabulary words. Expect a quiz covering vocabulary words right before the unit test.
· I will quiz halfway through a chapter and then test you on the concepts from the entire chapter.
· You will follow the 5 rules
Consequences for not following the rules
· A warning with a phone call home to discuss your behavior with your parents/guardians
· 2nd incident will result in before or after school detention
· 3rd incident will result in a referral to administration for further disciplinary action.
