Each concept will have 4 major elements that will be the same for each lesson.
Lesson plans for a given week can be found in Google Classroom in the Stream part of the Classroom.
1. Activity- The activity will be an exploratory unit of study that will build on prior knowledge and promotes problem solving and making connections within mathematics. These are completed using various digital or in class resources.
2. Formal Lesson/Textbook Assignment- Following the activity we will formally work through a given skill or concept using a more traditional lesson. Students will be given a selection of problems provided in the textbook or on a digital tool they will use to practice and learn how to apply the skills. These problems will normally be graded either in class at the end of the hour or at the start of class the next day and a grade is assessed in the 10% practice section.
3. Online classwork- Students will be assigned additional problems to complete through the online textbook website and/or Khan Academy. These problems will normally be between 5-15 problems that have a help section, answer checks, and opportunities to seek help to finish connecting to the concepts discussed in class. These will be collected by the designated due date in Google Classroom and a grade is assessed in the 10% practice section.
4. Online exit ticket (mini formative assessment)- Following the previous 3 opportunities to practice and apply the skills, students will be given a short 3-6 question exit ticket for the concept that reflects the knowledge they should have obtained from lessons. These will be assessed using the Standards Based Grading rubric in the 40% in the formative assessment category.
