  • October 22nd 2018 - Continued onto the story of Jacob and Esau. Looked at the two deceptions of Jacob. Students asked to journal on one of the deceptions and indicate a life lesson they can learn form this story.
  • October 11th 2018 Continued with the story of Abraham. Students read the Genesis ch 12-14. Students were asked to journal on the meaning of monotheism, who Abraham was, and the meaning of a leap of faith. We then began a discussion of the meaning of covenant, the signs involved, and the promises given in the covenant.
  • October 3rd 2018 - Students performed their presentation and received a mark. The presentations performed were: Cain and Abel, Noah, and the Tower of Babel.
  • September 24th 2018 - We discussed as a class the meaning of original sin. Gave out group activities. Students are going to be acting out the prehistory stories: Cain And Abel, Noah, and the Tower of Babel. Students today worked on the script. We read a section in the class on original sin. finally students were asked to journal about their own reactions to the doctrine.
  • September 20th 2018 - We began to read and discuss as a class the the second creation story of "Adam and Eve." We read the story, and then we examined how different relationships were affected as a result of Adam and Eve's choice. We looked at how the relationship between God and humans, men and women, and finally human beings and their own selves were changed. Finally students were asked to write a journal entry about whether these broken relationships still continue today.
  • September 17th 2018 - Discussed the meaning of being created in the image and likeness of God. Students were asked to journal about a) what are the two meanings given for being created in the image and likeness of God b) What do you personally think it means to be created in the image of God. Finished with a discussion on how God creates order from chaos. In this we too are in the image of God, in so far as as we bring order to chaos.
  • September 11th 2018 - We discussed how to read. Began with a discussion of experiencing the reading before trying to understand. We talked about having insights and then judging those insights. Finally, we discussed the decision making process. We mapped these concepts onto a literal reading of scripture, an allegorical reading of scripture, and finally a symbolic reading of scripture. We then played a game where students were introduced to the Index, and book, chapter, verse of navigating through the scripture. Students were asked to define the word Tanak.
