October 30th 2018 - Discussed the the story of Joseph as a class. Read through Joseph's temptation in Portiphar's house. Discussed Joseph in prison and watched a video relating to his life.
October 22nd 2018 - Discussed the sacrfice of Isaac as a class. We discussed the meaning of providence in the life of Abraham.
October 11th 2018- Continued with the story of Abraham. Students read the Genesis ch 12-14. Students were asked to journal on the meaning of monotheism, who Abraham was, and the meaning of a leap of faith.
September 28th 2018 - Students were asked to practice their skit and finish working on typed version.
September 26th 2018 - Gave out group activities. Students are going to be acting out the prehistory stories: Cain And Abel, Noah, and the Tower of Babel. Students today worked on the script.
September 26th 2018 - Began a discussion around the idea of original sin. Read a passage from the bible, reviewed the effects of the fall on humanity, finally covered an analogy of original sin relating to money. Students asked to journal: What is original sin? What was the analogy used in class to describe the effect on future generations? What is your opinion of the whole thing?
September 20th 2018 - We began to read and discuss as a class the the second creation story of "Adam and Eve." We read the story, and then we examined how different relationships were affected as a result of Adam and Eve's choice. We looked at how the relationship between God and humans, men and women, and finally human beings and their own selves were changed. Finally students were asked to write a journal entry about whether these broken relationships still continue today.
Septemebr 17th 2018 - Continued discussing the Genesis creation story. Discussed the meaning of being created good. Students asked to journal about what it means to be created good. Finished with a class discussion on the idea of being created in the image of God.
September 11th 2018 - Discussed "How to Navigate the Bible." Introduced the students to the index, chapters and verses. We played a game as a class where students were asked to identify the book, chapter and verse.
September 10th 2018 - Continued discussion on how we as a class are going to read the scriptures. We spoke about the categories of Experience, Understanding, Judging, and Deciding as a class. We looked at the genesis story where Jacob wrestles with an Angel. We asked the question and journaled about how the story can be understood literally, symbolically, and morally.
