To help the partner communities connect, both the MBA Student Association and the MSx Student Association typically create and manage partner distribution lists. In the past, partners have used these lists to organize social gatherings, ask and answer questions, and to attend special events together.
If you're the partner of an MBA student and wish to be added to the list, email the MBA Student Association Technology & Communications Committee leadership at gsb_sa_tech@stanford.edu.
AlertSU is Stanford University's emergency notification strategy used to communicate time-sensitive information during an emergency event affecting campus. Alert messages can be sent to the Stanford community via text message, email, and in extreme instances the outdoor siren system and VoIP speaker phones.
The AlertSU system is not open to the public; however, the Stanford Department of Public Safety (DPS) recognizes there are non-student members of the campus community who would like to be notified of an event at Stanford. If you are interested in enrolling in the AlertSU system, please send an email request to alertsudps@lists.stanford.edu with the following information:
Your first name
Your last name
Your current address
Reason to be added to the AlertSU system
Full name of the student with whom you’re associated
Please note that you will not be enrolled automatically by sending this email request. Your request will be reviewed and you will receive a response from a DPS staff member with the required next steps. Let us know if you have any questions about this process.
Please direct any questions about the AlertSU system to alertsudps@lists.stanford.edu.
Stanford Visitor wireless access: With the Stanford Visitor network, you can use the University's wireless network to access the Internet while on campus. The visitor network offers limited bandwidth, and sessions are limited to 12 hours. How to get online:
1. Select the SSID Stanford Visitor from your device's list of available wireless networks
2. Open a browser and load any URL; you will be redirected to an access page (on a mobile phone, the access page should open automatically)
3. Click Accept to acknowledge the terms of use. Your browser will be sent to a confirmation page, and from there you can get online.
Sponsored Guest wireless access: If you use an application that has a unique set of ports or if you need to be part of the Stanford University IP space, you may want to consider using the Sponsored Guest wireless network. You will first need a current Stanford faculty member, staff member, or student to sponsor a wireless guest account for you. The sponsor must visit wirelessguest.stanford.edu to establish a SUNet-sponsored guest account. This includes selecting a user name and a password for the guest account. The length of the sponsorship ranges from one to 14 days. Note: University IT tracks guest accounts to the sponsoring SUNet ID. The sponsor is responsible for the guests' Internet use as well as any reported misuse.
GSB Residences wireless access: If you are a partner currently living in the GSB Residences (Schwab or Jack McDonald), you can have your device registered for wireless access by visiting the IT Help Desk in Bass 207 (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 10:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. or 2:30-5:00 p.m.) or by submitting a help ticket.
Other on-campus residence wireless access: If you are a partner currently living in Stanford on-campus graduate housing (other than the GSB Residences), you can submit a request stating that you have an approved sublease and would like to be added to the "Exceptions Workgroup." You may need to provide additional information or documentation to confirm your sublease. Once you have been approved and added to the Workgroup, you will receive confirmation that you are now able to register your device on the "Stanford Residences" network by selecting the "Student" option.
