Purpose: When selecting interventions, we want to select those with the highest level of evidence of effectiveness for students with disabilities. While there are a multitude of web-based resources available that cite evidence of effectiveness, it can be extremely difficult for educators to efficiently locate & use these resources.
As a result of this concern, & inspired by the work of Bryan G. Cook & colleagues, Goal Team 1.1.1 has worked with key SSD stakeholder groups to create this document: SSD Researched-based Practice Selection Framework. It is organized in the format of the 6S Pyramid, “a framework for efficiently & accurately prioritizing different types of research evidence” (Santangelo, Novosel, Cook, & Gapsis, 2015).
This framework is intended to be a reference for SSD staff when:
- selecting/recommending instructional methodologies,
- purchasing instructional materials, and
- when providing professional learning regarding best practices.
