Key Intervention Resources

See below for a selection of key intervention resources that have been shared with SSD Data Team Leaders during Data Team Leader Cohorts over the last few years. These resources are frequently offered as solutions when problem-solving during a data team meeting. 

Please consider having a team member review this page when brainstorming intervention ideas. All resources are FREE (unless otherwise noted). 

Cross-curricular resources

ActivelyLearn 3rd-12th grade texts (and videos!) for ELA, Science, and Social Studies with scaffolds and higher-order questions.

Boom Cards - Boom Cards are interactive lessons created by teachers. (Check with your SSD administrator about a paid license.)

Chrome Extensions for struggling students and special needs – blog post that outlines 30 chrome extensions and how they might work in your classroom. 

Diffit - generates and/or adjusts content to "just right" instructional materials & resources

Discovery Ed Streaming - 200,000 rich content resources that spans all grades and subjects (Check with your SSD administrator about a paid license.)

eSpark Learning - With standards-based games, videos, and digital activities, K-5th grade students can work independently to succeed at their own level and pace.


EVERFI – interactive, game-based digital lessons on career exploration, social and emotional learning, diversity and inclusion, and more

Flocabulary - Flocabulary is a library of songs, videos, and activities for K-12 online learning. (Every SSD teacher has access to a district-provided subscription.)

Goalbook UDL strategies - Downloadable strategies & tools in the areas of engagement, representation, and expression.

HippoCampus - Thousands of free videos in 13 subject areas (mostly math and science) pulled from reputable resources. 

Immersive Reader is a Microsoft alternative to Read&Write listed above – read this article for more info.

Intervention Central - Free research-based interventions & strategies in the areas of academics & behavior.

IXL - IXL is a personalized learning platform that is proven to improve learning outcomes for all students. With more than 8,000 skills covering math, English language arts, science, social studies, and Spanish. (Check with your SSD administrator about a paid license.)

Learning for Justice - Free resource for educators emphasizing social justice and anti-bias. Classroom resources include lesson plans, film kits, etc. 

QSSSA : more than turn and talk - QSSSA is a method for structuring conversations that can be used in any grade level or content area. Any teacher can use QSSSA to engage students in academic conversations.

Read&Write - The Read&Write easy-to-use toolbar makes documents, files and web pages more accessible. 

Retrieval Practice - Strategies, downloads, and resources to help your students retain their learning.

Splash Learn - Kids see fun games. You see real learning outcomes. Watch your kids fall in love with math & reading through this scientifically designed curriculum for grades K-5.

SSD Assistive Technology - This SSD google site offers a variety of tools for students in pre-K to high school.

Question Well  - generates questions, learning objectives & more from teacher-selected text

ULS (News to You) - Unique Learning System is designed specifically to help students with special learning needs master their state’s extended standards. (Check with your SSD administrator about a paid license.)

Understood.org resource finder - This interactive resource finder allows you to select specific skills within the domains of behavior, learning, and everyday skills and suggests evidence-based resources.

Along.org  - digital reflection tool with alternate methods of response

Classroom Screen - a free and simple tool with helpful digiboard widgets for the classroom screen

Creatability - collection of tools designed to make arts more accessible to users with disabilities

CTRL-F - digital media literacy with activities & lessons

EquatIO - EquatIO lets everyone create mathematical equations, formulas, Desmos graphs, and more on their computer or Chromebook.

Flippity - "Easily turn a Google Spreadsheet into a set of online flashcards & other cool stuff".

Lino - online sticky notes - can use as a virtual bulletin board that students can contribute to!

Openverse – extensive library of free stock photos, images, and audio

Pear Deck - “With the Pear Deck for Google Slides Add-on, you can add the magic of formative assessments and interactive questions to your presentations right from Google Slides.”

Photos for Class - Creative commons photos that automatically include attribution.

PikWizard –  over 1 million stock free images and videos

Project Core - provide access to flexible vocabulary, AAC, and evidence-based instruction for communication 

Sketchnoting - "Sketchnoting, in its purest form, is creating a personal visual story as one is listening to a speaker or reading a text." Kathy Schrock's Guide to Everything has TONS of resources on the topic.

SlidesMania -  free creative PowerPoint templates & Google Slides themes

Starting Your Podcast -  guide for students creating & publishing podcasts (contest element optional)

Academic Word Finder  - Find the high-value, tier two vocabulary in any text (grades K-12)

CommonLit - Free fiction & nonfiction reading passages for grades 5-12.

NoRedInk- NoRedInk builds stronger writers through interest-based curriculum, adaptive exercises, and actionable data.

Quill - Quill provides free writing and grammar activities for elementary, middle, and high school students.

Readworks & Digital Readworks - Large library of non-fiction & literary articles, with reading comprehension & vocab lessons & assessments.

Read Write Think - Provides hundreds of K-12 standards-based ELA lesson plans, printable sheets from assessments to organizers, and online student interactive tools (from the National Council of Teachers of English).

Unite for Literacy - free digital library, loaded with 500+ culturally relevant books and narrated in over 50 languages (approximately K-2 level texts)

Math

Get the Math - "Get the Math is about algebra in the real world. See how professionals use math in music, fashion, videogames, restaurants, basketball, and special effects. Then take on interactive challenges related to those careers." 

Illuminations - NCTM - Math resources such as lesson plans, web interactives, and mobile apps from the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics.

Inside Problem Solving - The Inside Problem Solving problems are non-routine math problems designed to promote problem-solving in your classroom (pre-K to high school).

Legends of Learning – Math & science activities and games for grades 3-8

Math is Fun -Illustrated Math Dictionary - Math is Fun is a dictionary of math terms with visual explanations of the concepts behind them. The tool is appropriate for students of all ages. 

NCTM Classroom Resources - A collection of resources from the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, including problems of the week and reasoning & sense making task library.

Attendance Works Resources - Attendance Works suggests five basic steps to address and reduce chronic absence in schools. We've developed resources to help implement each strategy.

Habitica - A free habit building and productivity app that treats your real life like a game (can also be accessed on computer, don't have to have a device). Their tag line is: Motivate yourself to do anything.
