Having your bike set up properly is essential for anyone who rides a bike, who wants to go faster, be more comfortable, prevent injury and maximise cycling enjoyment. To get the most performance improvement for your time spent riding and to stay injury free your cycling position must be safe and effective.
Every bike set up is different - the days of setting a bike up by simply giving everyone the same standard angles and geometry are long gone. Your set up depends on many variables that together will determine where all your points of contact need to be relative to each other and the bike. Firstly you must be on a bike that enables you to get into this position (it needs to be the right size). From there we can move things around to get the perfect fit for your individual set of circumstances. The variables include your training and injury history, flexibility, your pedal technique, the speed you will ride at and the event you are training for.
