Eligibility, Nomination, and Selection

Eligibility Criteria

An employee (faculty or staff member) is eligible if he or she meets the following criteria:

1. Employment at Saint Louis University for a minimum of two years

2. Employment in Good Standing without current corrective counseling

3. Has not received a SLU Star award within the last five years

Nomination Form

The Nomination Form includes demographic questions about the nominator and nominee. Nominators are asked to respond to the following prompt:

"In the space below, please provide examples of how the nominee consistently demonstrates the criteria of the award: our Ignatian ideals (Magis and Cura Personalis), commitment to the 5 C's (competence, conscience, compassion, commitment, and community) and service. Please be as specific as possible to help guide the SLU Stars committee selection process."

Selection Process

SLU Stars awards are given out twice a year during the fall and spring semesters. Those nominations that meet eligibility criteria are reviewed by members of the SLU Stars committee using the SLU Stars rubric. The committee meets to discuss and select awards.

All nominees are contracted to share they have been nominated. Nominators are also informed of award decisions.

SLU Stars FAQ's

1. How many people can I nominate during each award cycle? There are no limitations on the number of people you can nominate.

2. What makes a successful nomination? Successful nominations address the criteria of the award with substantive examples of the nominee's actions.

3. Who can submit a nomination? The SLU Star award is a peer-to-peer recognition award, which means that any employee at SLU can nominate any colleague.
