AP Exam Information
Dear Parents or Guardians:
Siren High School is proud to participate in the Advanced Placement program. The Advanced Placement program is owned by the College Board and they have very specific guidelines that are required of all the participating schools around the country, including the cost, dates, and times of the exams. The AP program is meant to be a standardized measure of a student’s knowledge base in specific content areas. It is also intended to provide high school students with an opportunity to experience college level curriculum. Research strongly supports the hypothesis that a college-like experience in high school leads to greater success in college as measured by GPA, years to complete college, and college completion.
Each college awards credit a bit differently based on AP Exam scores. Here is a link to find how many of the UW colleges will award credit: https://uwhelp.wisconsin.edu/counselors/preparing-students-for-college/college-credits-in-high-school/
The College Board invites students enrolled in an Advanced Placement class to take the AP Exam. The cost is $90 per exam. The fee may be reduced for students who qualify for free or reduced lunch. If you qualify for free or reduced lunch please contact me to discuss payment. The following items must be received before the school can order your son’s or daughter’s exam materials:
AP invoice with check made out to SIREN SCHOOLS
Signed permission slip for your student to take the exam (may be at a site other than Siren High School).
Please note that students are expected to report to the testing site 30 minutes before testing is scheduled to begin. If you have any further questions about the AP Exams please contact Montana Weaver at (715) 349-2277 extension 313. If you have any questions about the AP Program go to www.CollegeBoard.com.
Sincerely,
Montana Weaver
