In the beginning, I pulled apart what was a rolling pickup truck. Like every other Land Rover from before 1985, when I found it it had been sitting in a field. I think that's somewhat of a requirement, isn't it? If your truck hasn't been parked up for a decade or more after a life of hard use, then it doesn't really qualify.
Well, Duffy qualifies. He (it?) suffered a number of indignities in his (its?) life. I've been told that it's variously been a mining truck used by a prospector, a farm vehicle, and a project. The previous owner is a relative who'd had the truck gifted to him as a project vehicle from Dendy Orchards cherry farm in South Kelowna. What it had done before then is a mystery.
It's certain the vehicle led a hard life of work. It was absolutely a useful tool.
Was your land rover painted with house paint? Mine was.
The vehicle looks to originally have been painted AA Yellow.
I suspect this has rolled over a few times.
Kids in Land Rovers. It's a thing.
And here we are. Stripped down, in a much emptier garage.
It took me several years to fully strip the vehicle. Like many projects, I worked on it when I had inclination and time. The restoration proper started in 2019.
