Elementary string instruction is offered to all interested students in the fourth and fifth grade. Students are encouraged to enter the program in elementary school as there are no beginning lessons offered at the middle school level. String lessons are available for the violin, viola, cello and bass.
Weekly group lessons encourage students to progress on their instrument. Lessons are held once a week for half an hour and free of charge. Lessons meet during the school
day on a rotating basis so that students do not miss the same block of class each week. Please note that students are responsible for academic work missed while they are
at lessons. They are also responsible for any string lesson assignments missed due to absence (e.g. illness, field trip).
Returning fifth grade students also attend a 45-minute orchestra rehearsal each week. Fourth grade students have an orchestral experience, meeting 4-6 times during the spring semester in order to prepare for their Showcase Performance.
