Labs

Lab activities are a great way to learn biology. We typically do several labs for each topic. We do a variety of different types of labs/activities including student designed experiments , stations labs, small group activities, microscope labs, whole class simulations, and computer simulations. We do as many hands on activities as possible while meeting the requirements of the Regents curriculum.

Lab Reports:

A lab report will be written for each lab investigation done this year. Some reports will be more involved than others depending on the activity/ investigation. Each student will have a file folder in which to store his/her labs. I will provide the folders. Completed labs will be stored in the classroom in bins. Some labs will be completed electronically as per NY State Guidelines.

  • 1) A minimum of 1,200 minutes of completed lab experiments

  • 2) Satisfactory lab reports for the 1,200 minutes of lab time on file with the teacher

Living Environment Regents Exam Lab Evaluation:

“The Living Environment” Exam includes a section based on required labs – Part D. Part D will test student knowledge of the lab skills in the core curriculum guide and four required labs written by New York State Board of Regents.
