Why is a usb stick needed, other more suitable forms of storage are available (such as University networked folders, google drive, cloud storage, etc). These forms of storage are more favourable as they ensure data remains more resilient, secure and less likely to be misplaced.
Flash drives are quite unreliable, and do fail. Also due to their size they can be easily lost/misplaced - good practice to use them as a form of briefcase - to simply copy a file from one machine to the next - not as a main tool for storage purposes.
