Health and Safety

Safety in the Dental School is paramount. To comply with the Nationwide and University level regulations Risk Assessments must be completed before a new procedure is performed and CoSHH forms must be completed for all the substances considered hazardous to health held in the School.

The Risk Assessment form is for the process. It should detail the significant hazards in the process, the level of that hazard (L, M or H), what measures should be taken to reduce/eliminate the hazard, and what risk level the hazard poses once those measures have been taken (L, M or H).

The CoSHH form should detail specific information from the Materials Safety Data Sheet (usually delivered with the product) that informs the user how to handle it correctly and safely, how to dispose of it and how to deal with spillages.
