¡Benvenidos a la clase de Español!

¡Welcome to Spanish class!

We are looking forward to a rewarding and fun year. Our goals for our students are to communicate in a language other than English and to gain an awareness and understanding of other cultures.

We will follow the National Standards for Foreign Language Learning for grade 6th. The introduction and presentation of the material will expand all four languages skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing, we will use the book "Viva el español" ¿Qué tal?

Content topics for 6th grade) are:

Grammar Agreement of nouns and adjectives (gender and number), present tense of regular and irregular verbs, sentences formation, and;

Cultural perspectives and map study of Latin America and Spain, We especially celebrate Our Lady of Guadalupe, Cinco de Mayo, Lord of the Miracles (Perú).

Vocabulary in situational conversations:

Greetings and names, traditional prayers,

Classroom word and expressions, numbers, colors (review),

Days of the week, months and seasons, (review)

Parts of the body and clothing,

Foods and conversations frequently at restaurants,

Family and friends,

Number and gender of the noun,

The singular and the plural of articles,

Holidays and celebrations, music and dance. We especially celebrate Our Lady of Guadalupe, Cinco de Mayo, Lord of the Miracles (Perú).

Each year we will reinforce and expand on the vocabulary and grammar lessons of previous years.

The students will receive a grade on the report cards.

We will look over the material in the student`s books, and encourage her/his practice of Spanish outside the classroom.
