Digital Photo 1 Syllabus & Contract
This Fine Art course provides students with hands-on experience with digital image making. The primary goal of the course will be to teach students to make proper exposures manually, by overriding the camera settings (turning off auto mode!). While the course will be quite technical, we will supplement the sessions with creative research assignments, photo and art history, Photoshop tutorials, natural and studio lighting techniques, and alternative processes. At the end of the course, students are expected to have produced a large body of work varying in content and style.
-------
Policies and Procedures- Photo Etiquette
1. The memory card (SD card) is your digital binder and must be brought to class EACH day. Do not lose it!
2. Students are responsible for the gear checked out to them. Any damage done to the camera may result in loss of camera/studio privileges and you will be financially liable for the damages.
3. Using in-class photographing time inappropriately will lead to loss of ‘out-of-classroom’ privileges. Should a student lose that privilege, he/she is still responsible for completing the assignment and turning it in on time.

8. Turning in a photo that you DID NOT TAKE (aka PUSH THE BUTTON YOURSELF) will result in a zero on that assignment and a an academic integrity violation.
9. Students will abide by school rules by default, including those regarding Electronic Devices unless the teacher instructs us to do otherwise.
10. Participation and community and very important to creating a safe space to create art, disrupting the community will result in appropriate action/consequence.
**11. Distance Learning: Appropriate Zoom protocol must be followed at all time; no inappropriate names, videos, images, backgrounds will be tolerated. Inability to follow these rules will lead to removal zoom meeting until teacher is able to discuss with student the actions.
