For this next assignment, you will photograph some action in a series.
We will make a Muybridge GIF.
You will make your own GIF.
For your own GIF, you must first photograph something in a series of consecutive shots, so that when layered and properly aligned in Photoshop, they will appear animated.
REQUIREMENTS:
Make a GIF
Your GIF must contain a MINIMUM of 30 frames.
No repeated images
obvious movement shifts in each photo
EDITING OPTIONS:
COLOR TO BLACK AND WHITE must be a SMOOTH TRANSITION from color images to black and white images by adjusting your saturation (Image > Adjustments > Hue and Saturation)
Must have a phrase or word bubble on it for the entirety of the GIF. (Add text layer on the top, click each FRAME in the timeline, then click the text LAYER)
Turned in as a GIF
Turn in as #_GIF_Lastname Firstname
Here's how:
1) File > Scripts > Load Images into Stack > Click Automatically Align
Load all your images into stack and align.
COLOR TO BLACK AND WHITE must be a SMOOTH TRANSITION from color images to black and white images by adjusting your saturation (Image > Adjustments > Hue and Saturation)
2) Click the top layer.
3) Click on Image > adjustments > hue and saturation
The first image must be Saturation -100.
4) Continue these steps for the rest of the layers.
Slowly adjust the hue and saturation.
Layer 2 should be -90
Layer 3 should be -80
Layer 4 should be -70
Layer 5 should be -60 ect.
STOP WHEN YOU GET TO ZERO!!
This will allow for a smooth transition from color to black and white.
5) Window >Timeline > Create Frame Animation
6) Click the "Create Frame Animation" button so you can see the frame as shown below:
7) Click on the Timeline Menu dropdown bar.
Select "Create New Layer for Each New Frame"
AND
select "Make frames from layers".
All your layers should appear on the timeline frame as shown below.
8) Select all the frames and select 0.2 for each frame.
9) To make your GIF repeat on a loop, make sure to select "Forver" at the bottom, on the timeline menu.
SAVING A GIF
RESIZE THE GIF
Go to Image > Image Size
make the PPI 72
and make it about 5 inches.
Otherwise it will be too big to save!
SAVING
To save your GIF, go to
File > EXPORT > Save for WEB
Under PRESET Select GIF
Where is says "UNNAMED" select DITHERED.
CLICK SAVE
Format:
HTML and IMAGE
SAVE AS:
#_GIF_last name first name.html
