WHAT IS DEPTH OF FIELD?
"Depth of field refers to the range of distance that appears acceptably sharp," meaning DoF refers to how SHALLOW or DEEP the sharpness is in the photo.

ARE YOUR DUCKS IN A ROW?
Now we will take it to the next level
Place your DUCKS or objects in a row and photograph it them. The objects must be in a line, starting NEAR the lens, then moving AWAY from the lens.
Take the photo same photo, with the same focus, at these different f/stops.
f/4
f/8
f/11
f/16
f/22
ADJUST YOUR METER FOR EACH!!!!!
Make sure to MANUALLY FOCUS so you can see the effect more and keep the same composition.
Place all the photos in the Depth of Field handout below.
COMPARE AND CONTRAST
Today, we are going to experiment and compare the depth of field of the photos.
Find a beautiful location.
Pace a subject (person or object) in the foreground of the image. This will be what you focus on.
IMAGE 1
Select a small object and focus on it, zoom in, get close
Set your F/Stop at f/22
Adjust our shutter and ISO for a perfectly metered image. * images with a shutter under 1/100 will have camera shake
Take the photo!
IMAGE 2
Take the same photo, exact photo (focus, location ect),
Set your f/stop to 3.5or 4.
Center the metering (this means you will need to change either the ISO or the shutter.)
This article and the equation below will explain. The main key to know: the larger the opening. the shallower the depth of field due to focal length, focal places, and closets vs farthest points of sharpness.
