Talent Show
The Talent Show will be held during the school day at 1:00pm on Friday, April 28. All fourth - eighth graders are welcome to participate. Parents and family of participants will be welcome to attend.

If you helped at the Bluejay Bash, be sure to sign the paper in the front so you can get credit for your Official Beta Event.
Election of New Officers
If you are interested in running for a Beta Officer position, please pick up an Officer Election packet. It explains what will be done for the election and the deadlines. We will again be electing two grade-level officers per grade.
Closing Ceremony
The Beta Closing Ceremony for the 2022-2023 school year will be help on Wednesday, May 10 from 3:30 - 4:00 in the gym. All Beta members are welcome to attend. We will be inducting our newest members, inducting our new officers and saying farewell to our 8th graders by giving them their Beta honor cord to wear at their Promotion Mass.
We will meet in the STREAM lab after school and all members are asked to bring their Beta shirt to put on after school to wear for the ceremony.
All parents and family members are welcome to attend.

Broussard Community Fair Help -
This is basically a big service project for our entire school and church parish! If you volunteer at ANY booth for the Broussard Community Fair, it will count as an Official Beta Event. We will record this at our December Meeting.
Pageant Set Up -
We will be setting up chairs for the Pageant on Thursday, November 17. Students will report to the STREAM lab at dismissal. We will report to the gym once it is clear and will set up chairs for the Pageant. Students will be brought to the carline at 3:45. Anyone not picked up by 3:50 will be sent to after school care. This will count as an Official Beta Event.
November Service Project -
We will be making cards for our newest seminarian Bennett Bodin. You will have the opportunity to work on the card at recess on Tuesday, November 8 or make one at home and bring it in to Mrs. Claire by Monday, November 14. Cards should be neatly done and include a message for Bennett. Cards can also include decorations, a prayer you’ve written and maybe even a joke! Participation in this project will count as an Official Beta Event.

Now that we have the STREAM lab, there are many things that need to be done each week to prepare for all of the classes. If you see this sign on the door of the fourth grade hall, it means help is needed in the lab at recess that day. If you are willing to help, please do! Election of New Officers -
We will have an election for two fourth-grade Beta Class Representatives If you are interested in running for office, you will need to get a packet with the deadlines for the election. Information can also be found online on the SCS Main Page under BETA CLUB and then OFFICER ELECTION INFORMATION. The first thing you will to do is get a parent to sign the Election Consent Form and give it to Mrs. Claire by September 9. You will need to create 2 or 3 flyers to convince the fourth grade Beta members to vote. These flyers need to be hung by September 12. We will hold the election at lunch recess on September 20. We hope several of you will consider running for Class Representative.
Alumni Weekend Decorations -
This is the first year that we are hosting an Alumni Weekend. We have been asked to make decorations for the volleyball game on September 10. There will be a couple meeting dates to work on the decorations and put them in the gym. Each meeting will count as an Official Beta Event.
We will be working on decorations on Tuesday, September 6 at lunch recess in the STREAM lab.
We will be putting up decorations on Friday, September 9 at lunch recess. Meet Mrs. Claire on the playground near the gym.

Talent Show
We are now making final plans for the Talent Show.
You are invited to stay after school until 3:30 on Tuesday, March 29 to help set up for the Talent Show. Report to the STREAM lab at dismissal if you are able to help. It will count as an Official Beta Event.
If you attend the Talent Show and are able to stay for a few minutes after the show to help pick up chairs, etc, it would be GREATLY appreciated! This should only take 5-10 minutes.
3. New Business
Fun Shoot
The Fun Shoot will be held this Sunday, March 27. We have been asked to run the Fun Jump area. We will be timing the children and making sure they stay safe in the Fun Jump. We are asking people to sign up for 1-hour shifts from 9:00 - 3:00. If you are able to help, please go the Sign Up Genius and put your name down on a slot.

Leadership Workshop
Beta will hold our own leadership workshop on Friday, April 1 from 3:00 - 4:00 in the STREAM lab. Students will be brought to the carline afterwords for pick up. Students planning to attend must complete the short Google Form by Wendesday, March 30 in order to have an accurate amount of supplies prepared.

There are plenty of opportunities for Beta members to assist the weekend of the Broussard Community Fair. Beta Club has been asked to assist in the gym at meal times. We will have one hours shifts from 12:00 - 6:00 on Saturday and Sunday. We have been asked to wipe down tables and trays and keep things clean in the gym for meals. Each shift will count as an Official Beta Event.

Chalk Your Walk - Decorate the end of your driveway with an inspiring image or words
"Visit" with a Grandparent - Older adults often feel lonely and isolated because of the pandemic. Call or video chat with a grandparent or other older neighbor to check on them and give them someone to talk to.
Video of Book Reading - Record yourself reading a favorite children's story. Email the video to Mrs. Claire. She will post videos for younger SCS students to enjoy read alouds.
If you have other ideas, let me know. They may be added to our list of accepted activities!

Officer Elections
We will be self-nominating for two positions next year. Fifth graders may run to be a Sixth Grade Representative next year as part of Junior Beta Club. Fourth graders may run to be the Chairman next year. Fourth and fifth-grade class representatives will be elected next fall.
If you are interested in running, you should fill in your name in the appropriate column of this Google Sheet. You may remove your name at any time. Explanations of each position can be found on the Google Sheet.
If you are interested in running, you must complete each of the following in order to be included on the ballot.
Type your name on the Google Sheet above by Friday, April 24.
Record a video that is 30 - 90 seconds long explaining what you are running for and why people should vote for you. Be creative! These should be student creations!! All videos will be part of the ballot. All videos should be emailed to Mrs. Claire by Sunday, April 26.
Elections will take place the following week. Details of the exact dates of the election will be sent out at a later date.

From March 2 - May 1, Running Club will be happening from 3:00 - 3:30 on Mondays and Fridays. This is an official Beta event for EACH session you assist. Be sure to record the sessions you’ve assisted with on your Religion Service sheet or your Beta Service Minute Sheet.

Mr. Fontenot has approved some of your ideas for National Beta Club Week. Here is what we have planned for now:
Monday - Hats off to Beta DAY! - wear Beta shirt and a hat with school bottoms
Tuesday - Black and Gold for Beta DAY! - wear black and/or gold shirt with school bottoms
Wednesday - Beta Mass DAY - Mass dress, Beta picnic on front lawn of school; all Beta members bring a lunch of their choice and we’ll take group pictures on the front steps
Thursday - Beta as far as you can see DAY! - wear a shirt to represent the high school or college you’d like to attend
Friday - We have a BRIGHT FUTURE thanks to Beta DAY! - wear bright shirt with school bottoms
We will also have daily morning announcements that tell the school about Beta Club. The Talent Show will also be hosted this week.

State Convention Wrap Up - Ava
We attended the Elementary State Convention for the first time as a club this year. It was a long day, but we enjoyed competing against other Beta Clubs across the state.
We would like to congratulate all of our members who competed. If you competed in any State Convention competition, please stand at this time. Let’s thank these members for representing our club so well.
We would like to recognize Briley LeBoeuf for placing third place in Drawing and Addison Maynard for placing fourth place in jewelry. Great job girls!
We are planning to attend next year with our fifth graders again.
Mardi Gras Parade- Walker
The annual Mardi Grade celebration will be held on Friday, March 1. We will be working on two different projects as a club for this event.
We will have optional meetings on Wednesday, February 12 and Wednesday, February 19 from 3:00 - 4:00 to work on decorations for the event. Each will count as an Official Beta Event.
Talent Show - Jayde
We will be hosting the Talent Show on Friday, March 6 at 6:30. We will have an optional meeting on Friday, March 6 from 3:00 - 4:00 to set up for the Talent Show. It will count as an Official Beta Event.
We also have flyers that need to be decorated and hung by the end of the week. If you would like to decorate one, please take one today and return it tomorrow. Please put your name on the back. If you complete it, it will count as an Official Beta Event.
We will need a couple of people to hang the flyers around campus tomorrow at lunch recess. If you are interested, please sign up today and come to the lab at lunch recess. It will count as an Official Beta Event.

We will be having our Beta Mass on Wednesday, March 4. Fourth and fifth grade Beta members will have the opportunity to participate in the Mass by bringing up the gifts and preparing the altar. The Broussard Community Fair needs our help! We have been asked to assist with the Fair Kitchen. This will require students to sign up for one hour shifts to clean trays and clean tables in the gym for lunch and supper.
Shifts will be on Saturday and Sunday for one hour each beginning at the following times: 11:00am, 12:00pm, 1:00pm, 4pm, 5pm, 6pm
