Standardized Testing
SAT
All juniors take the SATs at Spaulding during the school day in the spring. There is no charge for school day tests.
Seniors have the option to take the SATs in the fall of their senior year and must register through College Board. The cost is approximately $60. If you feel you you could be eligible for a fee waiver see your school counselor. Fee waiver info and eligibility requirements can be found here.
Official SAT test results must be sent to colleges from the student's College Board account. SAT scores are not sent by Spaulding to colleges.
PSAT/NMSQT
All juniors take the PSAT/NMSQT, during the school day, in the spring of their junior year. There is no fee for the school day PSAT/NMSQT administration.
The fall administration of the PSAT/NMSQT is open to juniors in October. This is administration is optional and is paid for by the Rochester School District. Information will be announced at the beginning of the year.
In order to view PSAT/NMSQT scores students must have a College Board account.
The PSAT/NMSQT serves as the qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship. Only juniors are eligible for this scholarship.
Students are encouraged to use the PSAT/NMSQT to prepare for the SATs. College Board has free resources to help students prepare.
PSAT 10
In the spring of their sophomore year, all students take the PSAT 10. This is offered during the school day and can only be taken by those who have sophomore status.
Students should create a College Board account so they are able to view their scores when available.
