College Entrance Exams

ACT

The ACT is an alternate to the SATs. It is less common for a school in the North East to ask for ACT scores, however they will still accept them. Historically, ACTs are more common in the southern part of the country.

SAT

SATs are required by some colleges for admission, however, more and more colleges are going "test optional" which means that you can choose to send them or not. If you do, they will consider your scores when reviewing your application. If you choose to opt out of sending your scores, it will not hurt your chances of being accepted.

KHAN Academy is the official SAT Prep site and will be extremely helpful as you prepare to take the SAT. If you link your Collegeboard account with KHAN Academy they will create personalized practice tests based on your PSAT/NMSQT scores. Click this link to learn more!

Nursing School Entrance Exams

If you are pursuing a nursing degree after high school you may need to take an entrance exam. Be sure to confirm with your college of choice to confirm the test they require.

One of the most common is the TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills.) This is the test required by Plymouth State University, Keene State College, Colby-Sawyer College and Great Bay Community College. UNH is test optional and does not require an entrance exam for their nursing program.
