Getting Started

Sign in to your Google Workspace account

In a web browser, go to http://www.google.com. If necessary, click on the Sign in button in the upper right corner of the window. Enter your Saint Mary's e-mail address and password where prompted. Click on the Sign In button or press the Return key.

If you are having problems accessing your Saint Mary's Google Workspace account, please try the following:

  1. Go to http://www.google.com/ in any current web browser (Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Apple Safari, or Microsoft Internet Explorer/Edge).

  2. In the upper right corner of the web browser, you will see one of two options:

    • A Sign in button

    • An e-mail address, most likely your Saint Mary's e-mail address or a personal Gmail e-mail address.

  3. If you see a Sign in button, click on it. In the Email field, enter your entire Saint Mary's e-mail address (including @saintmarys.edu) and your Saint Mary's password. Click on the Sign In button.

  4. If you see a non-saintmarys.edu e-mail address listed, click on the address and then click on the Sign Out button. Click on the Sign in button. In the Email field, enter your entire Saint Mary's e-mail address (including @saintmarys.edu) and your Saint Mary's password. Click on the Sign In button.

  5. If you see your saintmarys.edu e-mail address listed, you are already logged into Google Apps. Click on the Mail, Calendar, or preferred Google Apps link at the top of the web browser to access your files.

Quick Fixes:

Passwords: You can change your Saint Mary's password (which provides access to Google Workspace, Blackboard, PrintLimit, and cluster/classroom computer logins) at any time by visiting http://www.saintmarys.edu/account and following the steps listed.

Security: We recommend that you DO NOT check the box to Stay Signed In. Checking this box will allow anyone with access to your computer to also be able to access your Saint Mary's e-mail account and Google Apps features.

Sign in from Google.com: Please use http://www.google.com to access your Saint Mary's account - you will need to enter your complete saintmarys.edu e-mail address and password to sign in.

Mobile devices: If you wish to access your Saint Mary's e-mail via a mobile device, you must first log into your Google account and accept the Terms of Service. Instructions for setting up mobile devices are available here. Information Technology (ResNet and the Helpdesk) provide limited support for iOS devices (iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch), including assistance with connecting to Google Workspace.

POP and IMAP: We recommend using a web browser to access Google Workspace from your computer, rather than a separate POP or IMAP e-mail client. We encourage you to use the web interface for Google Apps so all of the features (Mail, Calendar, Contacts, Drive, Talk) will be in one place and will travel with you wherever you go on any device you choose to use. With the exception of mobile devices, Information Technology does not plan to have documentation available for configuring mail clients (including Apple Mail, Mozilla Thunderbird, and Microsoft Outlook) during our rollout of Google Workspace. We want people to experience all of the communication and collaboration tools that Google Workspace has to offer.

Mobile Device Access: If you wish to access your Saint Mary's e-mail via a mobile device (iPhone, iPad, iPhone Touch, Android, etc.), you must first log into the Google Apps website and accept the Terms of Service before you can access your messages. We recommend using a web browser to access Google Workspace from your computer.

Supported Web Browsers: Saint Mary's College and Google recommend using current versions of Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Apple Safari, or Microsoft Internet Explorer/Edge to access Google Workspace. For details on Google's supported web browsers, please visit here.

Signing into multiple Google accounts: You can sign into multiple Google accounts - this is helpful if you have both a Saint Mary's Google Workspace for Education account and a personal Gmail account. Here are the different options for accessing your multiple accounts:

Google and your birthdate: If you set up your profile on Google and it asks for your birthdate, please do not provide fraudulent information. You could become locked out of your Google Apps for Education account if you indicate that you are under 13 years of age. For information on how to re-enable your account if you provided a false birthdate, please visit http://support.google.com/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1333913 - we recommend using the credit card option for the quickest response. Saint Mary's College is unable to complete these steps on your behalf.
